We were saddened to hear that over the weekend legendary race car driver Paul Radford, “The Ferrum Flash” passed away at the age of 94. We not only lost a man, but a piece of racing history left with him.
I grew up on stories of Paul Radford and his 50 years of racing, being we’re both FC natives, and always knew he’d be a great guest to have on the show. Fortunately couple years back, with massive thanks to Chris Williams at @SMARTMods_, we had the honor of sitting down with him for a show. He welcomed us into his home and told some of the most incredible stories. From flipping a car in a funeral home parking lot, to running from the law on gravel roads while bootlegging, and to wrecking Earnhardt, we couldn’t get enough.
This was one of my proudest moments of the show, and one of my favorite to ever record. I’ll share it below, so check it out.
This living legend is Spike Pugh, who turned 100 years old this month. He had spent 75+ of those years on the Rocky Mount (VA) Volunteer Fire Department, and still runs calls to this day.
Since he began he has volunteered through the span of nine decades, two centuries, twenty Virginia governors, fourteen U.S. Presidents, six wars, and one Intimidator.
This man exemplifies what it means to be American🇺🇸 Show him some love!!!
The show y’all have been waiting for has dropped. Our summer event with @beinlibertarian was a success, and we’ve got the podcasts to prove it.
This one featured the Queen herself @dogwoodblooms and our good friend @Liberty_Xtreme, as we discussed organic mushrooms, Appalachia on the upswing, social media presence, how we got here, where we’re going, and much much more.
You don’t want to miss this one so check out profile for links, or head to the comments and we’ll share there as well👇

Our recent show just dropped, and I can’t recommend listening enough. @GetOnTap and @beinlibertarian teamed up to sit down with @JohnReid4VA and discuss his campaign for Lt Governor of Virginia. It may be a grassroots campaign, but he was one of the sharpest people we’ve had the pleasure of talking to. We were also joined by Rocky Mount Mayor Holland Perdue, so we really got into the meat of politics in the Appalachian Region, and how we can keep up the momentum.

Our latest show with @beinlibertarian dropped this morning and it’s one of our best in a while. For the 4th time we brought on recent VP candidate for the LP, and former White House Economist, @miketermaat_ to talk about his new path to Liberty, the rot in politics, the current administration, Appalachian getaways, big shows coming up, and more.

I hope there is a really good reason why @RepMGriffith (VA 9th) voted “nay” on releasing any records involving Epstein yesterday.
We’re recording in seven hours so unless there is a statement to clear this up, in the spirit of transparency of course, I’m confident on what we’ll name this show, and what our main topic will be.
This Memorial Day Weekend let us honor those lost for the noblest of reasons, the politics of it all aside. Appalachia has sent many sons to fight the battles of this great nation, while great numbers have not returned home. So please share some honorable Appalachian names in the comments.
I’d like to remember Jared William Kubasak, 25, of Rocky Mount, VA (my hometown). He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado, and was killed December 12th 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle, while conducting patrol operations in Baghdad.
I grew up around Jared since elementary school, where he was a year above me. We would play after school waiting on our parents to come pick us up. We lost touch as we got older and into high school, where my last memory of him was getting into a fight. I didn’t know he had even joined the military until I learned of his passing, but I’m proud of the man I heard he’d become. This was his second tour so chances are we crossed paths in Iraq back in 03 and never knew it. To date he is the only Franklin County, VA resident to lose his life on the battlefield in Iraq/Afghanistan, which is such a blessing considering the numbers who have served.
Rest easy brother.
Y’all should definitely check out our latest show, featuring recent American Idol contestant (and Appalachian born farm boy) Kam’ron Smith. This show was chock full of awesome stories from growing up in the mountains, ones that’ll give you a little faith in the next generation. We also talked about his journey through American Idol, what he’s learned, the next step, and a ton more.
