Very sad to hear of the death of my good friend Edward Stourton, a charming, gentle, highly intelligent man. He was horribly treated by the BBC when he was sacked as a ‘Today’ presenter, but bore it with Christian forgiveness and found other ways of expressing his great talents.

There is something epically arrogant about the new Prime Minister. Too grand to stand for election unless he is being elevated to PM; too grand to wear the normal clothes of a professional adult; too grand to be interviewed by the press; too grand to be questioned by Parliament.
