This is how much life I’ve lived… but I can honestly say that I’ve worked, loved, given, shared, laughed, prayed, hoped, helped, healed, lost, cried, celebrated, and enjoyed this life more than ten times this amount of years.   

My aunt Thelma used to say “wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now”.    

As I celebrate 54 years on this planet I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing. All the pain, all the hurt, all the disappointments, all the lost, all the loneliness, they all had an opposite, and today I am living in that opposite.  

My prayer for you today is, if you’re in a low place, please don’t stop till you see your opposite.  God bless you.

The year was 1956. A five year old girl was on her way home from school.

She was dropped off in front of her house by the school bus. She had about a hundred yards to walk to her rural farmhouse in Mesa, Arizona but she never made it.

Her parents and the police searched everywhere for her.

By late evening time her father had assembled a small posse who were kicking in peoples doors armed with shotguns looking for her.

Three days later they found her lying next to a tree. She had been raped and severely beaten, she was alive but unrecognizable.

She grew up living in fear all of her life. She passed that fear onto her children and they all lived in fear.

It robbed them all of living a normal life.

She died when she was only 50 years old and her youngest daughter also recently died at 50.

They eventually caught the man and he was sentenced to life in prison. He was here illegally from Mexico.

When I became a police officer, I deported every illegal person I came across until the police department stopped me and I make no apologies for it.

Do I have a problem with people from Mexico?

No, I have a problem with people that are here illegally.

That little girl who was abducted raped and beaten and her livelihood stolen
was my cousin.
