Happy Labor Day! Let’s never forget who built the middle class: unions. By protecting the right to unionize, we can help secure better workplace conditions, better benefits and better wages for America’s workers.
The sign on the office door still reads 'Margaritaville," but the wind of change blows through the halls of the former North Fork Spanish Apostolate, which the late Sr. Margaret Smyth ran for 23 years until her death in December at age 83. https://t.co/BfGT2XEqvw

BREAKING: Republicans in Florida are pushing a new "Don't Say Period" bill.
It would make it ILLEGAL for a teacher to talk to a child about their menstrual cycles.
That's not hype, or "woke" framing. Just listen to the Republican sponsor Stan McClain, who said it loud and clear:
Dem Rep Ashley Gantt (and former teacher) asked him: "So if little girls experience their menstrual cycle in 5th grade or 4th grade, will that prohibit conversations from them since they are in the grade lower than sixth grade?"
McClain simply responded, "IT WOULD."
Imagine being a teacher to a child in shock from getting her first period, and you go to JAIL fo helping her.
THIS is what is at stake for Florida. And when right-wing fascist Christians like DeSantis take over, the US is at risk too. They want TOTAL control.
If we let this go quietly, they win.
We’ll be posting more updates as stories of resistance to this madness continues. Stay tuned.
Why do corporations keep raising prices? Because they can.
Corporations aren’t afraid consumers will stop buying their products because they’ve monopolized entire industries.
The underlying problem isn’t just inflation. It’s the monopolization of America.
Memo to the media: Please don't say inflation is at a 40-year high without also mentioning that corporate profits are at a 70-year high. Give the people the full picture.
Early voting in the Nov. 8 general election will get underway in Suffolk County on Saturday and continue daily through Nov. 6. Here are the locations, dates and times.https://t.co/YlVJywUDYb
We wake up every day with a choice about how we want to engage with the world and I can't for the life of me, understand people who in that moment choose to tear others down.
Corporate profits only accounted for roughly 11% of price growth from 1979 to 2019.
Today, record corporate profits account for 53.9% of price increases.
Folks, corporate greed is driving inflation, not workers asking for better wages.
@_Visionworks is possibly one of the worst companies I have ever encountered. After 3 days of pure torture trying to get assistance with very simple requests, I am dumbfounded by their complete and total uselessness at every single level.
Starbucks is now adding benefits exclusively for non-unionized workers.
This is AFTER the NLRB called the company out for illegally withholding raises from unionized workers.
Starbucks’ anti-union schemes are absolutely shameless.
There is no limit to how low they will go.
