Marriage used to be the entry point into adult life. One of the first steps.

Today marriage has become the culmination of adulthood, the final step after a long run of individual experiences. People are expected to first build careers, live alone, travel, date for years, and only then settle into marriage.

Marriage went from foundation to trophy. It is no longer the stabilizing base that anchored young people early, but an almost luxury milestone once life is already sorted out.

Which is precisely why it’s rarer now.

@MrJackChanGuy @Breathless83Fan I don’t think any of these examples disqualify my fundamental point. The film stock is different, and if you shot Shawshank on Vision 3, it would look different.

@Breathless83Fan All of these stills were apparently shot on Kodak Vision 3. Do you see what I mean? It lacks that warmth present in Vision 2. I included Once Upon a Time especially because I know Tarantino would never use LEDs, and yet, it still looks slightly off.

@Breathless83Fan Also, another issue is that digital cinema cameras have a higher dynamic range than film, so the highlights don’t blow out as easily. This, I think, gives it a “flatter” look. You could shoot on film with a 100% LED lighting kit and it still would have more contrast than digital.
