A solution against invasive humpback salmon in Norway's rivers, a collaboration between Simula Consulting and Huawei Norway, is a top 10 finalist for the UN's #sustainability award!
The system uses #ai to distinguish Norwegian Atlantic salmon from unwanted humpback salmon.
The system has trapped over 5,000 humpback salmon this summer in 2 rivers in Finnmark. It is powered by solar energy and ensures that humpback salmon are led to a separate cage while wild salmon and other species are allowed to go up the river unhindered.
