“I think about it all the time” by charli xcx is auditory warfare produced by a rw-adjacent thinktank to give milennial women just the right amount of anxiety to change TFR trends. the downstream impact of Brat will not be realized for years
@Bencera The total ARR is a bit misleading bc presumably 3k users @ $50per month means $2M of the $3M is just subscription revenue
The $1M remaining from the AI businesses is much more interesting. would want to see how that grows over time. Is that your 20% cut or total?
🇨🇳 Arriving in Chongqing is craaaazy, they designed it well so you drive into the city from the airport immediately seeing the crazy lit up skyline
They just put a LED strip on literally every edge or line or road in the city and lit it up
It's so funny seeing Europe try to save the climate by using less energy when obviously China could not give any less fucks (as they should) and just spends more and more energy (because they know to develop society you have to spend energy, as the Kardashev Scale describes)
I struggle w the right operating model though
When I use ChatGPT voice to text I’m asking it to organize a big ramble / info dump into a structured piece of writing
When I use Wispr I have to choose this structure first, which is slower, which is why I only end up using it to respond to emails
I’m not sure if there’s anything yet which take a combination of speech and instruction to type it out in my tone of voice but that’s where I feel it might need to be for mass adoption
@inflammateomnia False pretenses bc it’s just a different form of desire (“I want to not eat”) that you’re aiding, which is what a lot of drugs do
Maybe the better question is how do you balance physical v mental desires
day 1 in china — Beijing
1. Is good branding less important in an authoritarian government? Maybe, if you don’t have to do much convincing, I wondered as I read about the very clinical sounding “Clean Plate Inititiative” at the breakfast buffet
2. Very explicit focus on patriotic education / national identity as very plainly stated on this calligraphy exhibit
3. Which even filters down to the Rednote girlies — most of the Forbidden city visitors were young people renting hanfu outfits and doing photoshoots. ChatGPT tells me this is called “china-chic”
4. Speaking of the forbidden city it took an hour to get in and @byte_curious_ was forced to throw away a few pieces of scrap paper before entering Tiananmen Square. They are not messing around on the security screen!
5. Yes everything is digital but that doesn’t mean the UX is totally seamless / optimized. So many validation steps and the AliPay English translation is very slow and mediocre. The bodega man I bought cigs from seemed sort of amazed by ChatGPT voice
