Die Mullahs versuchen, eine neue Gleichung durchzusetzen: Wer Beirut angreift, greift den Iran an. Sie binden ihr eigenes Schicksal an das der Hisbollah – ganz bewusst, ganz demonstrativ.

Das Kalkül dahinter ist kühl. Teheran ist überzeugt, dass Trump derzeit keine Eskalation will, und genau diese Lücke nutzen die Mullahs. Sie inszenieren sich als treibende Kraft des Konflikts, als die Stärkeren, die Aktiveren – und vor allem als die Retter des Libanon.

Dabei ist die Hisbollah längst auf dem Rückzug. Nicht nur militärisch, Tag für Tag, sondern innenpolitisch. Im Libanon selbst wächst der Unmut, und immer offener richtet sich die Wut vieler Libanesen gegen die Miliz, die ihr Land seit Jahren als Geisel hält.

Und hier liegt die eigentliche Angst von Teheran und Hisbollah: nicht vor israelischen Bomben, sondern vor dem Frieden. Vor dem Tag, an dem der Hass auf die Hisbollah so groß wird, dass er den Weg freimacht – nicht nur für Verhandlungen zwischen Israel und der libanesischen Regierung, sondern für Friedensabkommen zwischen den beiden Ländern. #Iran

Wer glaubt, das Mullah-Regime werde durch Entgegenkommen milder, hat seine Logik nie begriffen. Kompromisse besänftigen Teheran nicht – sie ermutigen es. Jede ausgestreckte Hand gilt dort nicht als Friedensangebot, sondern als Eingeständnis von Schwäche, das zur nächsten Eskalation einlädt. Der Angriff auf den Flughafen Kuwait ist kein Ausbruch von Irrationalität, sondern das Ergebnis eines kühlen Kalküls, das der Westen aus Bequemlichkeit verdrängt: Stärke wird respektiert, Nachgiebigkeit bestraft.

The United Kingdom has endlessly appeased the criminal regime in Iran. The Prime Minister speaks of protecting the innocent civilians of Iran but failed to act to help stop the regime’s massacre of 40,000 innocent Iranians in January.

Only an end to this regime - that brings terror to Britain’s own shores - will yield lasting peace and regional stability. Keir Starmer should follow in the footsteps of Churchill, not Chamberlain. He should support the Iranian people’s fight for liberty.

The Iranian people will remember who stood with them in their hour of need and who stood against them. There is still time for the Government to change course: prosecute the IRGC that slaughters innocents, expel the illegitimate regime's ambassador, and act to support the people of Iran.

I had a call with the Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas @araghchi . We discussed the situation in Iran and the spiralling escalation in the Middle East. Diplomatic solutions and de-escalation are urgently needed.

I emphasized the need to end the strikes on neighbouring countries and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait Hormuz especially regarding the humanitarian aspect of global food security with a focus on fertilizers and other essential goods.

Regarding the Iranian nuclear program Austria supports any diplomatic way forward that leads to a new agreement and full cooperation with the @iaeaorg .

In times like this it is important to maintain dialogue.
