I'll support this amendment, but the Shawnee Mission District already has their own policy in place, and we don't need the #ksleg telling us our business.
Call your U.S. Congressional elected today. Stop the occupation of Minnesota and the unlawful use of masked, lethal ICE agents. Ask Congress how many more fatal shootings will they tolerate?

Interestingly, Rep Goetz floated an idea of (example) $X sped funding increase in Year One of a new model, $Y annual funding increase for a few years, CPI-U increases after that. (That’s Leah’s summary, don’t quote Rep Goetz on that :).
@leahfliter@KASBPublicEd Thank you for coverage of this critical work. The agenda of the Task Force could have major impact on the future of public education and the learning opportunities for over 90% of all Kansas school-aged youth.
KSDE’s Special Ed guru Bert Moore says he’s asked the state’s SPED administrators to weigh in on the discussion of how to best fund special education in Kansas. It sounds like that input may be presented at the September TF meeting.
There was a startling claim just now that virtual schools don’t get SPED $$. Thank goodness Dr. Harwood clarifies that’s just not true. Bert Moore also chimes in. Rather shocking these admins aren’t aware of that. SMH.
Another great crowd! Day Two of #ksleg Education Funding Task Force. Focus today is on SPED, as with yesterday's meeting. We have BOE, SPED admins, Supts & other ed ldrs from across KS. 😍

Shawnee Mission School District is facing the loss of almost $1,000,000 due to a decision to withhold funding by the U. S. Depart of Education (USDOE). These funds, already appropriated by congress, are used to provide support to all students, along with … 1/
