For the Queen by @muscularpikachu inspired a major overhaul of the discovery prompts in Far Lands: the idea "tell the player something, then ask them a question about it" revealed why some of them hit so flat in my early tests- I didn't give the player enough to work with!
Just finalizing examples of play to send Far Lands to an editor and commissioning a few initial pieces of art... This is starting to feel *real!* I'm so excited.
@jdragsky Looking at this and some of them reminded me of Cultist Simulator in a great way... I was imagining some of these as mystical parallel realms and when I got to "criminal underbelly" the vision of that as a parallel realm was very amusing yet... So compelling
With the latest versions of Far Lands, I've been shuffling around which steps are collaborative and which are the responsibility of a single player, and I've been really surprised by some of the results!
@quinnthegm I do *very occasionally,* and only when it would be severely anti-fun. My biggest thing I do is "deaths door" where important enemies only *die* to dramatically appropriate hits and not just any old damage.
Also, if you were going to make characters in one system, and then translate them into another system for gameplay, what combinations do you think would work? Could you do SCRPG -> champions? Champions -> masks?
@teamupmoves loved your series on Sentinel Comics RPG! I've felt like the game works really well for running a specific type of scene... What do you think of using pieces of other systems to expand it to include more tools for RP & investigation scenes?
Played Exquisite Biome by @SeaExcursion and did character creation for Wanderhome by @jdragsky and I gotta say it was some of the most fun I've had in ages! Awesome wholesome game night.
Made a little prototype for an idea I had. Playing around, it's a lot easier to make un-expandable patterns than I expected... But I wonder if there's a strategy opportunity there. But it looks as good as I imagined, even as a paper prototype!
@DMJazzyHands@DnDBeyond Ngl I have long suspected that if you make tooany requests to their rng system in a short window you get the same roll (timecode based seeds maybe?) I've seen enough rolls like that to be very suspicious.
@jdragsky This is (one of the many reasons) why I want to see a return of old school forums! ...just maybe with more concern for moderation this time around.
