Chicago has plenty of soccer bars ‒ but the newest one is special.
I talked to owner Garret Drexler about the idea behind Soccer House as I checked out Chicago's first "soccer-exclusive" bar.

@USSoccerSnob The city isn't generally maligned in most media. A few outlets have tried making it one of a number of punching bags.
There's cheaper, more effective ways to advertise, and there are far better ways to spend taxpayer $ than hosting events with four-figure ticket prices
The British Columbia government says the cost of hosting World Cup matches in Vancouver has spiked again and could reach $729 million, with even the lowest projection now exceeding the highest estimate from last year.

@Bialynian FIFA expected the host cities to pick up the full tab of security arrangements, street closures, etc.
That isn't what happens for other major events in the city and is a terrible deal for taxpayers.
And for what? It isn't like Chicago doesn't have summer tourists.
Just throwing this out there: If I had a nickel for every Forward Madison alumni GK going to the World Cup, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
(Chris Brady, Dayne St. Clair, for those curious)
Joel Waterman 🇨🇦 is going to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the CanMNT.
Becomes 3rd #cf97 player to make it to the world's biggest stage this year.

It's not the World Cup but it is a callup
#cf97 's Robin Lod called up for the FIFA International Window, including a friendly against Germany in Mainz (a week before the Germans face the USMNT in Chicago) & a meeting against Hungary.
Potential for cap #84 and 85 for Lod
I was told premium sales should start in coming months, general seat selection early 2027, and supporters after that.
Team will be reconfiguring Experience Center with mockups for each seat type between groups.
The Chicago Fire are saying McDonald's Park seat selection is coming "early 2027" and the first match in the new stadium will be played in July 2028 #cf97
The Chicago Fire are bucking basically every trend out there and are LOWERING season ticket prices for sprint season and 2027-28 after schedule change.

@CangyApple Fans either loved him or loved to hate him, but everyone felt SOMETHING every second he was on the ice.
Truly one of the greats and it's a real tragedy that he's not with us anymore.
The Chicago Fire’s Robert Turdean and Chicago Fire II’s Darris Hyte will be with the USMNT u17s at their training camp in Brazil at the beginning of June #cf97#VamosFire
