Recently needed to see a doctor for a strange persistent cough that has lasted well over a month. Apollo a bit of a drive, so called a local hospital to see if I could walk in for a consult.
Lady asks if I want a “normal doctor” or a “special doctor.”
“ENT will be great but that’ll take an appointment, right?”
“Yes sir, you can get an appointment for 4:00 PM tomorrow. If you want a normal doctor, you can walk in anytime.”
“Yeah I think regular should be fine for now. Am coming in now then. It’s just a cold, any MBBS should be able to handle it.”
“Sorry sir, for an MBBS you’ll need to come with appointment.”
“What? Then what do you mean by normal doctor?”
“BAMS.”
I hung up without a word.
I don’t know how common it is to call BAMS quacks doctors now but it’s a dangerous downgrade of India’s medical ecosystem.
@kushal_prakash_ infact ur lucky that ur anesthesiologist/surgeon is following latest ERAS protocol which has shown better recovery after surgery compared to standard 8hr fasting.
(exactly measured 50gm gluconD with water would have worked as an alternative)
@DocPriyamMD No one would dream of having a lawyer build a building or an engineer defend me in court. But everyone seems to think that understanding complex biochemical and pathological phenomena is as simple as listening to what the neighbor who never studied says.
After the launch of the HPV Vaccination Campaign Against Cervical Cancer, spoke with my young friends who have been vaccinated today. This is a decisive step towards protecting the health of our daughters and mothers.
@CM_delhi@MANSAFAB important reminder: never listen to a stock market trader for health information.
qualified ayur. practitioners are still not real doctors.
@DocPriyamMD means we are heading back to pre antibiotic era 🥲
drug regulators are sleeping, they dont realise that its a community phenomenon..OTC popping of antibiotics by many dumb people will cause suferring to all.
