FFEL lenders have shown their true colors.
Instead of working in the interest of student loan borrowers – their customers – these lenders are holding hostage relief from millions in order to keep making a buck off of suffering.
Easy as 1-2-3*
*Unless you borrowed pre-2010, then just go fuck yourself. By the way, starting today, ignore the advice we previously gave to wait for further guidance on FFEL loans.
@POTUS Hey @potus, I evacuated from the devastating damage from Hurricane Ian. Somehow missed that you would make a surprise announcement that you were pulling the rug on fuel student debt relief. Would you like to come over and kick me another way while I’m down? #ffel
Commercial FFEL lenders are colluding with Republican AGs to thwart student debt relief. I'm still hoping @usedgov figures out a solution, but this is potentially devastating news for borrowers who couldn't, or didn't, consolidate before yesterday. https://t.co/LXjRD9XQML
Shame on @POTUS and @usedgov for kowtowing to the loan servicers. Borrowers had NO say in which FFEL loans were taken over by govt and which were left behind with lenders. Now half of FFEL borrowers don’t get the benefits. Shame! @SecCardona@JamesKvaal
@SecCardona Easy as 1-2-3 as long as you haven’t been paying for your FFEL loans for 20 years that got sent to navient without your consent. Apparently we should have known that the deadline was yesterday by our psychic abilities since it wasn’t announced until it was too late.
So- those who acted responsibly- who secured loans and graduated between 2000-2010 and have seen not 1 but 2 and in some cases 3 economic upheavals are the ones NOT eligible! This is some BS! Especially since the Fed Govt shut down the FFEL program in reaction to FannieMae and co
@NPR@POTUS when the student debt relief plan was announced, FFEL borrowers were told to wait for guidance. We did. And now you caught us with our pants down. Again. Never eligible for coronavirus relief, never eligible for assistance of any kind. @screwedagain#ffel
