Genuine Question: Does Christian hypocrisy bear any responsibility here?

We saw several leaders, pastors, theologians, and local folks in our community say one thing and then do theological gymnastics to justify their lack of care and concern for the vulnerable. And don’t get me started on how that also played out politically over the last 8 years.

I’m still in Christ. Still holding fast to his infallible word and His commandments. But I saw folks that I had good Gospel relationship and preached The Gospel WITH turn around and call me a neo-marxist due to my views on our responsibilities re social justice. I saw people that I discipled lie and say I was bewitched by CRT because they embraced a political culture war.

Those in my own reformed theological camps labeled me an SJW as a pejorative and a black liberation theology supporter (all untrue).

All I’m saying is that, yes, everyone is responsible for their own choices and the state of their soul but for us to act like there wasn’t moral hypocrisy in the public square that also aided to this is WILD.

Jesus makes it clear that others can bear responsibility for harming the faith of other people or ruining the Christian witness and we seem to not talk about THAT in the social justice convo.
