Helping weightlifters get stronger by tracking their workouts. Building the @repcount app since 2013. 2 million+ downloads. Tweets about indie app development
Milestone achieved:✅
Just had a check, and apparently my app hit 500k downloads a while ago🍾
Insane that something I have built has been in the hands of half a million people🤯
@seraleev I had 3 downloads the first month, 3 the month after..... First paycheck was 7 years later. 10 years in I added the first additional developer to the team. I guess times changed, but I am not sure I would have completely given up after just a month😅
@SebastianRoehl Using an accounting service was one of the first things I outsourced. Long before it made sense financially. I think I paid them 15% of my revenue when I first hired them and it was still totally worth it at the time to free up more time for development 😅
RepCount was founded in 2013. Every year, the number of workout tracker apps grow. Every indie seems to create a workout log app and a habit tracker 😅 on the other side of the spectrum we have competition from influencers and other fitness professionals creating their own apps.
@AlinCatalin I heard from a competitor that you could vibe-code a workout tracker in a day 🤣 I strongly disagree if you want to create a good one. It is a lot more complexity to it than it seems
RepCount is all native on both iOS and Android. A lot of people have told me I should convert the app to React Native or Flutter. For some, I absolutely think starting a new app with those technologies are the right choice. But for me... Nope. Absolutely not.
Sure, maintaining two code bases can be a pain... However, if you are smart about it, you can have very similar architecture on both and modern dev tools like Codex or Claude Code are very good at converting code from one platform to another. Is it more work than React/Flutter?
@arielmichaeli there are three options here:
1: There is a RepCount fan working at AppFigures 😀
2: There is an AppFigures fan working at one of your competitors😂 (I got help from them with my screenshoots)
3: It is a pure coincidence that both use Analyze. Track. Improve. 🤔
@AnthropicAI An example. Claude created a big detailed md file based plan too long for me to read. So I asked for a summary. Now Claude completely wipes the plan as if it never existed and comes up with something completely different.
The new md file based planning mode in Claude Code super confusing. Plans are extremely long and detailed making them hard to process. In addition I frequently find Claude re-implementing a feature it has just implemented. Is it just me @AnthropicAI?
