🇻🇦🇬🇧 Their Majesties will undertake a State Visit to the Holy See in late October, joining Pope Leo XIV in celebrating the Jubilee Year.
A Papal Jubilee occurs every 25 years, and is a special time for the Catholic Church. The visit will also celebrate the ecumenical work by the Church of England and the Catholic Church, reflecting the Jubilee’s theme of walking together as ‘Pilgrims of Hope’.
We were delighted to greet pilgrims from @cardiffmenevia this morning in St Peter’s square during their Jubilee pilgrimage led by Archbishop Mark O’Toole. Thank you, Archbishop Mark, for meeting our @Anabel_Inge at the end of the General Audience.
Today, The Duchess of Edinburgh visited the new exhibition ‘Unsilenced: Sexual Violence in Conflict’ at @I_W_M , London. ‘Unsilenced’ is the UK’s first major exhibition dedicated to highlighting this important and under-reported subject.

The Vatican fire brigade has put up the chimney stack, which will announce the election of the new Pope.
The Cardinals will gather in the Sistine Chapel on May 7 to begin the conclave to select the next Pope.
Twice a day, in the morning (except on May 7) and in the evening, smoke will emerge from the chimney - black if no Pope has been elected and white if at least 89 Cardinals have agreed on who will lead the Catholic Church.
This afternoon I joined the mix of pilgrims, mourners and tourists in the Basilica of St Peter’s. At a moment of transition for the Church and the world.
