Did we not tell Nigerians that Peter Obi is a liar and unfit to be President of our great nation? Earlier today, he claimed that he uses the term, 'My dear brother', which he condescendingly used to refer to His Royal Majesty, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, for the Obi of Onitsha.

His exact words were as follows:

"I ALWAYS refer to His Royal Majesty Igwe Alfred Achebe, Obi of Onitsha, as my very dear elder brother in the same affectionate manner."

But only last year, he referred to the Obi of Onitsha as "Father". He also used the same term to refer to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Chief Ayo Adebanjo, both of whom endorsed his Presidential candidacy during the #NigerianElections2023.

But when it came to one of the most revered traditional rulers in the Southwest, a First Class Lukumi King, he patronisingly and arrogantly referred to the Royal father as "My dear brother" and then lied that he does the same with the Obi of Onitsha to cover it up.

Like I said before, Peter Obi is a trader, not a leader, and he is better suited for running a stall at Onitsha Market than manning the desk at Aso Rock.

i.e. if you earn ₦1.5M you pay ₦375k to the government. ₦100M you pay ₦25M.

This is part of the new fiscal policy set to reduce the tax burden on all Nigerians, and direct it towards the rich who can actually pay it.

So, Nigerians are furious at the FCT Minister for supporting the tax in such a way. Adding that, he probably doesn't pay tax that's why he's promoting it. Since he's been in political office since 1999.

Actually, this new tax policy may see salary earners pay lesser tax than they paid before or even completely exempted from paying tax.

Only those earning far above the average threshold, will be subjected to the 25% mark.

But unanimously, Nigerians believe their taxes are not duly accounted for. And ultimately, the government is introducing first world tax in a third world economy.

ICYMI: According to the committee president, Taiwo Oyedele, only poor people pay taxes in Nigeria.

And the present tax laws have and, is creating problems for businesses and Nigerians. They want to reduce over fifty taxes Nigerians are paying, into one. Adding that, even the money is not getting to the government.

So, the committee is trying to shift focus, widen the tax net, but with precision.

Oyedele said “People will pay tax once we decide that they have to pay. What we realize is that almost 90 per cent of people who are paying taxes are those who should not have been paying in the first place,” he said.

“So that’s where we came up with the data that 97 per cent of the informal sector should be formally exempted from taxes. People do not understand where we are coming from. They’re not the ones to pay taxes. They’re just trying to survive.”

Additionally, the corporate income tax rate is set to drop from 30 per cent to 25 per cent which Oyedele described as “huge” for businesses.

Other significant tax adjustments include a reduction or elimination of VAT on essential goods and services such as food, health, education, accommodation, and transportation.
