Actually, the opposite is true. Investors pulling out of Uganda or rising inflation fears would push yields higher, not lower. Falling yields signal high investor demand to buy the bonds themselves, buyers are competing for them and are therefore willing to accept lower returns.

Peruth Chemutai has won bronze in the women's 3000m steeplechase at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The former Olympic champion finished in 9:09.96, behind Kenya's Faith Cherotich, who won gold in a Games record 9:01.76, and England's Elise Thorner, who took silver in a personal best 9:05.45.

Chemutai's bronze is Uganda's third medal at the Games, following silver medals for the Gazelles in women's 3x3 basketball and para-swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe.
