Hi, I'm Temitope. I'm a self-taught full-stack developer from Lagos who somehow ended up shipping production software for teams in Spain, the UK, and Nigeria over the last 4 years.

These days I build across the whole TypeScript stack, Next.js and React Native on the front, NestJS and Postgres behind it. Over the years, I've built somethings i'm proud of: I've worked on payment systems, fiscal-compliance tools, and a rideshare app that's moved real money for real people. The unglamorous, get-it-right-or-someone-loses-money kind of software.

I came up self-taught and alone, so now I share the things I've learned along the way, the real stuff nobody puts in a tutorial.

There is a very specific feeling when your deploy goes green and everything says success but you KNOW, deep in your soul, that you didn't test that one edge case.

Early on I thought storing money was easy, it's just a number right? Then I learned that 0.1 + 0.2 does NOT equal 0.3 in most programming languages, it gives you something like 0.30000000000000004, and now imagine that tiny drift multiplied across thousands of transactions.

So on my fee platform I stopped storing money as decimals entirely and started storing everything as whole numbers, kobo instead of naira, cents instead of dollars (integer minor units). No floating point, no drift, no kid ever getting charged ₦0.0001 extra. Money should never be a decimal. Learned that one before it cost anyone.

Even if it was through an affiliate program, his wording was still misleading. "Release my money" after tagging your name makes it sound like you owe him personally, not that he’s asking Raenest to resolve an issue. If he wanted to bring attention to the tweet, he could have said that clearly. And the nationality angle is a lazy deflection.....a fool’s plea when you have no real response

@smartnakamoura Not exactly. Building something useful proves ability, but hiring depends on proof, clarity, and distribution too. So I've built something people use, what's next? does that automatically get me hired?

What do you mean he's not directly asking him for his money? Did you see the way and manner he tagged the guys name? It could mislead others into thinking he's a scam. Ruining his reputation. Is he so dumb that he doesn't know the right channel to get his money back? Is he an illiterate?

Unpopular Opinion:

AI cannot generate a good idea from nothing. It always feels off when it tries. Ask it for a startup idea and you get something that sounds like five other startups blended together. Ask it to name your product and it's the most generic, focus-grouped thing you've ever heard. Ask it for a plot, a brand angle, a "disruptive" business model, and you can smell the averageness coming off it. And that's because AI doesn't create, it recombines. It predicts what usually comes next, and what usually comes next is by definition the average of everything that already exists. But a genius idea is the one that DOESN'T come next, the one nobody saw coming. That's the spark, and the spark is still yours. What AI is actually good at is everything after the spark, taking your raw idea and polishing it into something sharp and finished. So get the distinction right: you bring the spark, AI brings the polish. The day you start asking it for the spark too is the day your work starts sounding like everyone else's.
