You may not wish to think about it, but one day you or someone you love will almost certainly appear in a criminal courtroom. You might be a juror , a victim, a witness or perhaps through no fault of your own - a defendant.
Whatever your role , you’d expect a fair trial

FALAS Induction Ceremony at KIU School of Law, Main Campus
The Department of Clinical Legal Education, in collaboration with the Federation of African Law Students (FALAS) Uganda Chapter, today held an induction ceremony for newly appointed leaders at the KIU Moot Court.
FALAS is a unified student body committed to building a new generation of young lawyers—engaged in reshaping narratives, adding value, and creating opportunities for African law students.
With KIU standing as a strong partner, the ceremony was more than an induction; it was evidence that students don’t just study law, they live it.
Speaking at the event, Zubair Kanyereketo, Deputy Regional Director for East Africa at FALAS, reminded the newly appointed leaders to recognize the weight of responsibility entrusted to them and carry it with pride.
Yusuf Ibrahim, Director of Accounting at FALAS, further encouraged them to seek support whenever necessary in order to fully execute their mandate.
KIU’s School of Law provided the perfect setting for this milestone, reaffirming the university’s commitment to nurturing practical legal training and empowering students to take on leadership roles that shape the future of the profession.

While Networking, Don’t Be Too Transactional.
Don’t walk into rooms with your hands stretched out, palms open, heart closed, counting contacts like coins, measuring people by what they can give.
People are not stepping stones,
they’re stories. Not ladders, but lives. Not opportunities waiting to be milked, but souls carrying dreams and fears.
So when you greet someone,
don’t let your eyes scan them like a résumé. Look deeper. Ask what keeps them awake, what moves them, what they hope the world remembers about them long after the applause fades.
Because real connections are not forced;they’re felt.
Not demanded;discovered.
Not traded;grown.
While networking, don’t be too transactional.
Build bridges, not bargains.
Friendships, not files.
Allies, not assets.
Because the world opens for those
who value people
not for the doors they can unlock,
but for the humanity they carry.
And when you show up with sincerity, with curiosity, with presence, Opportunities won’t just come. They’ll stay.
