The diverse session should appeal to researchers interested in collective behavior, microbial ecology, biomechanics, active matter, and electron transfer. For those of you interested in bacteria, this is the place to be! Please address questions to @siryaporn_lab or @PepLarkin.
Please submit abstracts for the Bacterial Communities Focus Session 04.01.21 at APS March Meeting 2023 in Vegas by 5pm EST Oct 20! We welcome abstracts addressing experimental and theoretical insights into the collective behaviors of bacterial biofilms across all scales #apsmarch
Physics of Biofilms @ APS
Come together and share the newest discoveries in the emerging field of the physics of bacterial communities at the APS March Meeting. Abstract deadline 10/22/21 https://t.co/QRj5WhhUq8
Lauren's forum article on aging just published: "The impact of age-related hypomethylated DNA on immune signaling upon cellular demise", Trends in Immunology, https://t.co/ESKH2lFlfj
Just published @ Frontier Med. Tech.: Leora's Mini-Review on the latest strategies to develop the next generation of antibiotics. https://t.co/hOLdx8vVEs
New roadmap out on biofilms. @jbru_Louis, @siryaporn_lab, and I contributed with our perspectives on how stress shapes the spatial orchestration of bacterial populations and what’s next 👇
Leora is presenting at today's UCI Immunology Fair around 10:40am "A novel antimicrobial approach: histones and antimicrobial peptides". https://t.co/QN1806GCZ1
Nature Microbiology Community: Histones partner up to kill bacteria. Tory's new work shows that when histones are paired with antimicrobial peptides, the combination is more effective at killing bacteria than traditional antibiotics.

Tory's paper in press @ Nature Comm. "Mammalian histones facilitate antimicrobial synergy by disrupting the bacterial proton gradient and chromosome organization". Her paper reports a new mechanism that produces antibiotic synergy.
More to follow!
Want to learn about an innovative approach to neutralizing the #COVIDー19 virus? @UCIPhysAstro Professor Albert Siryaporn is deploying a trick used by bacteria to shield themselves from infection. Video here --> https://t.co/jJHWBuLtYP

@FEMSmicro Last week to apply for a PhD position in our lab. If you are looking for fully funded PhD project on one of the most exciting topics in microbiology (my opinion), you should consider to send in your application.
