ADHD Meditation Tips
- Don’t try to calm the mind. Sit in the chaos
- Boredom is okay. It can hurt, but can’t kill you
- Go slow. 5 mins a day is amazing
- No “right way” to meditate. Sitting is enough
- Give it time. If it helps, keep going. If not, try something else 🙏
I swear when I got diagnosed with adhd it became my hyperfocus and I was on such a high thinking that things would get better, and they have, but not as easily as my optimistic brain hoped, so now I'm on a comedown from that, reality is setting in
Friendly reminder: fun doesn't always look the same btwn neurotypical & neurodivergent peeps.
Ex: I know NT ppl who play Terraria & they love fighting monsters & exploring caves & things. Meanwhile, my fave thing to do is build skyscrapers that reach from Hell to the Heavens.
People with ADHD often have to pay the “ADHD Tax” due to things they avoid or forget. (e.g., toss fruit that’s gone bad)
One solution = prepay the ADHD Tax. (e.g., buy more expensive precut, pre-washed fruit)
What are some other ways you can prepay the ADHD Tax?
@Persephone_CJ Absolutely didn’t intend to shame anyone. Another reply made me realize this process is actually healthy, and we shouldn’t be ashamed of either our grief, or the fact our hyperfixation ended.
@returnofthegoth Grieving a lost hyperfixation is definitely healthy. Better to mourn, then move on. The alternative is to view it as a failure and beat yourself up (which was what I did pre-diagnosis).
@witlessX 😂 You’re the first person to mention my PFP. It was supposed to be a placeholder. It’s just a free stock photo and some emoji stickers (my other profile’s PFP actually is me). The idea was someone meditating (Sitting) surrounded by chaos (with ADHD). Will I ever update it 🤷

I'm thisclose to 5k followers, so I'll just be sitting here all day trying to think of something funny and relatable to say to inspire new folks. 🤣🤷♀️😁
@MaxieMoosie To quote my teenage self, “Weed slows down my brain enough to relax and socialize more easily.” Yet it still took me 20 years to realize that was ADHD.
Don’t smoke anymore though. Like alcohol, turns out it helps a bit too much, then they quickly becomes thier own problem.

Apparently I was too well functioning a child to have adhd, despite my adult scores being like maxed out so now I got a folder telling me to use Google calendar lmao
