This is absolutely true. The pedagogical ‘common sense’ that lectures are bad, that assigned readings should not be challenging, that teachers must ‘meet students where they are at’ rather than helping them to cross distance, is an unfortunate misconception of a good education.

Seems to me that a lot of trendy education theory & practice is just not ready to admit that the vast majority of kids do not “naturally” want to learn what they are being taught.

Learning is often boring & frustrating. You have to teach kids to tolerate boredom & frustration.
