New paper completed that discusses nested decomposition for multi-level optimisation problems. We look at different decomposition approaches and various general algorithmic techniques. https://t.co/cLYdU5zGy1
PhD projects at @ExeterUniMaths are now available through the China Scholarship Council - do get in touch if you'd like to come and work with us on topics in atmospheric dynamics. #phdpositions https://t.co/nraYx33sGc
There are opportunities to make your own moth for this campaign happening in Exeter over the next few weeks! Keep an eye out for some of our members contributions! #mothstoaflame#COP26Glasgow

This will be a great event not to be missed. Cynthia Barnhart has had an amazing career in OR and organisational leadership. It will be great to see her speak at this WORAN event. This event is open to everyone, members and non-members of the OR Society.

Had a thought about using operations research for minimising the wastage from over-ordering ingredients when home brewing beer. I didn't want to write the optimisation software, so I decided to write a blog. https://t.co/gqLaulch19
Achievement unlocked: Solving a linear program on a phone.
No software to install. Take a picture of an LP, get a solution in return. The demo in this video uses the CPLEX solver on @NeosOpt servers.
Interesting result! Some journals give us up to 6 months to review a paper. Following delays, this extend out quite a bit. Maybe we should push journals to give shorter review times (2-3 months) to help get publications in #ORMS out faster.
I always wonder about the review process for #ORMS. I have two questions.
Question 1: How much time would you like to be given to review a paper for a top journal

In honour of #InternationalWomensDay we’re celebrating the work of one of our past Presidents, @ruth_kaufman, who received an OBE for her services to Operational Research in 2016.

Kicked off a new research project with @Octeract_UK this week. Looking into old and new techniques to enhance the MIP technology in the Octeract solver. Really excited to see where this project will go.
A great talk by @lauraalbertphd. Professor Albert shared a lot of experience working with industry on challenging OR problems. Many great insights. #orms
