The Age letters today (https://t.co/bmp5OFgJlj), J Tatoulis asks a great question. @VictorianCHO and I are both right. Unmitigated, this virus would spread with an R~5. But Victorians' baseline behaviour was already constraining growth (R at peak~2) and we now have R~1.
Some seriously silly questions about "why Victoria" at the presser right now. Virus transmission is a highly stochastic (i.e. random) process. This type of rapid cluster growth was inevitable. That it has occurred here in Victoria is pure chance. Contact tracing efforts amazing.
We are hiring three postdocs at our University of Melbourne node. Although advertised full-time, part-time working hours and flexible conditions will be considered.

It's official, the new minimum distance passing rule is coming into effect on Monday 26 April.
We're welcoming this rule which will help keep Victorians safe on our roads.
