I'm always supportive of transport investment, but:
Has anyone noticed that the investment announced today matches exactly the allocations announced by the Conservative government in October 2023, following the cancellation of HS2 phase 2a?

@BaronessDeech Just in case anyone forgot, here is a picture of the "once beautiful" taken from very nearly the same spot (pinched from the @CoHSATOxon website).
@dansteel77 I can recommend Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres (even better the relatively new "tour" variant. It doesn't mean no punctures ever, but it's certainly a lot fewer than I used to get.
@mlambourne@yeaters2309 Not your mistake, both Amar Latif and David Henwood vocally supported Low Traffic Neighbourhoods then each left Labour for different reasons and now oppose them. Whatever their reasons for changing what they say, don't let anyone gaslight you by saying they never spoke in favour.
@IngaHrefna Officers recently wrote "a permit application for a vehicle that only marginally exceeds the parameters of eligibility will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the relevant permit team and a valid permit may be issued." [¶48 of https://t.co/Rs0mOFHklX] So worth contacting?
@AndrewxMontague@markchristie 2m high, 5m long, 2m wide, 2.25 tonne mgw. It has been in every residents' parking scheme introduced in the city since 2007, eg https://t.co/4qnLpNbcdb
@kingkapoor72 We are pleased to have Bicester Village here in #Oxfordshire and it’s a top destination for tourists from China and the Middle East. This is nothing new or unusual. I assume you don’t have the same meltdown when you see a British menu in another country…
@oldenoughtosay In general terms, I recommend graduates look at the graduate-only colleges (I work for one, so perhaps biased, perhaps experienced!) In these, graduate studies is the main focus, rather than just a small MCR bolted onto the edge of an organisation that's all about the undergrads.
There could be no greater indicator of the Government's commitment to its own decarbonisation targets than a Budget that increases bus fares by 50% while handing drivers another fuel duty freeze for the 15th year in a row.
Did a grown up, elected politician just use the argument "I know you are, you said you are, but what am I?" on a public forum? No wonder politicians are held in such low esteem by the public.
Yes @charlie_hicks_ your position does seem ridiculous and illogical.
The police have been consulted and given crime prevention advice to stop cyclists becoming the victims of theft. How can anyone think that’s a bad thing.
As I have pointed out, but will again, the police will also make comments about housing developments and leisure developments and parking proposals if changes could help prevent crime. Such as improving overlooking from neighbouring properties, improving lighting.
To suggest a police force “doesn’t care” about road safety is crass at best. Thames Valley Police officers sadly have to literally scrape people up off the roads and deliver the most devastating news to families. I can’t think of a group of people more committed to road safety.
By all means the council don’t have to listen to the comments of the police, but maybe we can keep the debate a little calmer.
Shot from our block today, @AmazonUK truck driver turning onto Bollo Lane from Osborne Road W3, takes out two sets of bollards.

Besides anything else, what was this vehicle doing in residential area that also has primary school?
@theabingdontaxi Indeed - just in case you need an authority to reference: https://t.co/0fI13GOHr0 "Reverend, Right Reverend, Very Reverend, Most Reverend and Venerable, whether abbreviated or not, should always be preceded by the definite article."
