A new project by Jarosław "Jerry" Tworek (ex-OpenAI) aims to raise up to $1 billion to develop a new type of AI.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Tworek intends to create models that require significantly less data and compute power to train. Central to his vision is continual learning—the ability for AI to learn on the fly from real-world experience, a capability today’s models lack. This would be achieved by pioneering new architectures that move beyond the transformer, the technology powering today’s most dominant AI models. His startup, Core Automation, plans to rethink the core of model development, "up to and including gradient descent." Tworek envisions the startup’s research scientists working on a single model named Ceres (after the dwarf planet and Roman goddess), merging the different steps of model training into one single process.
Tworek represents a small but growing group of researchers who believe the field needs a fundamental overhaul. They argue that today’s dominant techniques are unlikely to achieve major breakthroughs in fields like biology and medicine while still being prone to "silly mistakes."
According to The Information, the startup’s future products will focus first on industrial automation, with the ultimate goal of building “self-replicating factories” and biomachines capable of automated custom designs. While the plans are still in their early stages and funding targets may shift, the scale of the vision is undeniable.

Digital addiction doesn’t look like failure or weakness anymore. It looks like productivity. Endless notifications, infinite scroll, performative responsiveness and the quiet anxiety of being unreachable for five minutes have been normalised as “being on it”.

AI shaming is judging people for the tools they use instead of the quality of their thinking. This misses the point. Tools evolve and progress has always gone to those who use new tools well, not to those who apologise for using them.
Children born today will not understand truth the way we do. They will grow up knowing that what they see, hear and read can be shaped or optimised. They will understand a synthetic truth that requires judgement, not assumption.

For millions of non-native speakers AI removes a long-standing barrier to participation. It allows them to express their thoughts in a language that once excluded them. The net effect is more content and a more diverse set of voices entering global discourse.
