🌳 Introducing The Queen’s Green Canopy!

🍃 Today marks the launch of @qgcanopy, a a unique, UK-wide tree planting initiative created to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

This year, the 🇬🇧 United Kingdom holds the presidency of the @G7 and top-level mtgs begin in London next week. 🇨🇦 @MarcGarneau will be here for discussions among Foreign Ministers. The process culminates with G7 Heads of Government getting together in the UK in June. #G7UK (5/5)

🇨🇦’s @CanadianUK keeps in close touch with activities of interest to Cdns in the 🇬🇧 and across Europe. It was useful this past week to attend (virtually) events sponsored by the Atlantic Partnership (about policing) and by the Council of Europe @coe (about human rights). (4/5)

Important discussions about the Commonwealth are underway. I have appreciated hearing the perspectives of 🇬🇧 High Commissioner (HC) to 🇨🇦 @SusanleJeuneUK, the HC for 🇨🇦 to 🇮🇳 @nadirypatel and the HCs to the UK from 🇳🇿, 🇷🇼 and 🇰🇳 - sampling the Commonwealth’s rich diversity. (3/5)

Looking back, my first week as 🇨🇦 High Commissioner in London has been a whirlwind of learning: briefings on how our Mission in the 🇬🇧 operates, the special procedures imposed by COVID, an introduction to some major issues, and great support from 🇨🇦’s excellent London team. (1/5)
