Ladies and Gentlemen, SKECH185 x @jeff_markey presents "He Left Nothing For The Swim Back"

[Richard Smith @Richard_ezio]

Florida’s ‘Deputy of the Year’ used a flock to stalk his ex, held a gun in her mouth, and posed doing a Nazi Salute.

[Black Journals @blackJournals01]

Black Americans were barred from almost every beach in the South.

So in 1935 the first Black millionaire in Florida bought his own stretch of ocean and opened it to everybody.

Two hundred acres, white sand, bands, hotels, and nobody to tell you to leave. American Beach.

Abraham Lincoln Lewis founded the Afro-American Life Insurance Company in Jacksonville and became Florida's first Black millionaire. He bought the land on Amelia Island so his employees and their families would have somewhere to go.

It became the most important Black resort on the Atlantic coast. Zora Neale Hurston went. Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Joe Louis all played or stayed there.

Look up the photographs. Families in good swimwear beside good cars. Women laughing in the surf. Children buried in sand. It is a complete picture of Black American leisure in the 1940s and 50s, which almost nobody has ever been shown.

Then desegregation opened other beaches, a hurricane took some of it, and developers took most of the rest.

A man bought an ocean so his people could swim. Stories like this are why we document https://t.co/V6OJtazidd

[Q NO RAP NAME 🌧️🌧️🌧️ @qnorapname_]

Keith Porter Jr, a Black man was publicly executed by an off duty ICE agent on New Year's Eve last year.

His life mattered too.

@Roper_Williams @CineMasai_ I just gave my observations on that young man from what I know and what has come back to me. If he is putting out shit or supporting things that is damaging to our community, I'm seriously down to critique that.

[Afterfuturism @SKECH185]

@Roper_Williams @CineMasai_ Also, factor in the tail end of the blog era and a lot of cats around that age blowing up. He's waaaay different in branding than either of the guys you mentioned. Some strings were probably pulled, but that young man did the work and it clicked with the audience writ large.

[Walter Masterson @waltermasterson]

So the Russian bot farm just blew up?

Let’s go!

Free Palestine
Medicare for All
Fuck AIPAC
Zionism is not Judaism
Abolish ICE
Tax wealth not wages

[Jermaine Watkins @JermaineWatkins]

Sounds of Blackness.

Optimistic

[Afterfuturism @SKECH185]

@CineMasai_ @Roper_Williams @tomorrowkings If I didn't have his first burnt CD when he went by Chance Beats (he was very respectful when he and his friends gave us copies) and watched him gain celebrity, I would call him a plant too.

[Afterfuturism @SKECH185]

@CineMasai_ @Roper_Williams I'm talking before all of that. His mentor Brother Mike was one our (@tomorrowkings ) homies, so we would stop into his program to say what's up and see what the younger cats were coming up with. He was damn near a phenom then. He means a lot of different things to folks now.

[Morgan J. Freeman @mjfree]

😱😱😱 And just like that, it’s completely VANISHED from the media.

A sitting congressman, Ted Lieu, said on the record the Epstein files are being blocked because they show Trump raped and threatened to kill children.

Lets make this viral again 👇

[marys @claymarys]

Marian Croak is the inventor of the technology behind Zoom, FaceTime, and WhatsApp and holds more than 200 patents.

[Afterfuturism @SKECH185]

@CineMasai_ @Roper_Williams He is also the only rapper in the history of the city to be supported by the entire scene. Some older cats on the scene linked him with Donald Glover's team and that took him on a national tour early. He definitely got some good looks, but he was the best overall MC in his class

[Green Planet @Elizabeth_Ruler]

75-year-old millionaire died after being attacked and trampled by five elephants while participating in a hunting expedition in Africa.

[Meidas_Charise Lee @charise_lee]
