Claims that Trump’s election interference efforts are protected by the First Amendment have no merit. The legal line is crossed when words are used to conspire to commit crimes.
“You ban books. You ban drag. But kids are still in body bags.” From the youth of Tennessee rings an electrifying voice of reason and determination. Young people across America must take up the call and redeem our future.
Yesterday, we were expelled from the Tennessee state house. Today, we were talking to the White House about common sense gun laws and protecting our democracy. We fight on! ✊🏾
Wild to watch the Supreme Court dismantle the Voting Rights Act on the theory that state legislatures have stopped discriminating on the basis of race, only to watch the Tennessee Legislature expel two Black men yesterday on the basis of race.
There’s something people are missing about what happened in Tennessee.
This was personal.
Rep. Justin Jones didn’t only protest for stronger gun safety. He was the activist who played a role in the bust of Confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest being taken down from
the Tennessee Capitol.
In February 2019, Rep. Jones, then an unelected activist, staged a protest at the Tennessee state Capitol where he demanded the removal of a the former Ku Klux Klan leader before being arrested.
The statue was finally removed in 2021. However, it seems some relics of the past remain.
@chrislhayes They don't need to win anyone over. The plan is to use gerrymandering, voter suppression & the electoral college to stay in power instead.
During early #Reconstruction it was common for Black politicians to be expelled from state legislatures.
Aaron Alpeoria Bradley was expelled from GA’s Senate bc he grinned with “full teeth” at a white senator while winning a debate… #tennessee

Monson Motor Lodge manager pours acid into his swimming pool in effort to evict black and white protesters demanding integration, St. Augustine, Florida, this week 1964: #Cort
@KevinMKruse@DonaldJTrumpJr Yeah I will definitely keep that in mind when I decide to cheat on my wife & then try to cover it up using illegal means while running for president.
To recap this week's news: Donald Trump and Clarence Thomas were both accused of public corruption but it's okay because neither of them used a bullhorn so Tennessee expelled two black guys who want to stop the NRA from murdering children Texas forces people to give birth to.
Wait, the Grand Jury in Manhattan isn't even meeting today?
???
Man, I don't know how much more I can listen to people talk about indictments that haven't happened.
@chrislhayes@nbeaudrot ... but this isn't word that TFG will be indicted. This is just him blathering on social media to fundraise & incite violence.
