@neiltyson Neil, NOAA’s roots are as the oldest gvmt agency for physical science, created in 1807 by President Jefferson. Only then it was called the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey. In 1870 the Weather Bureau was founded & next Fish & Fisheries. All were blended officially into NOAA in 1970.
