This time last year I was on strike for many reasons, one being to show displeasure for @ONeducation’s efforts to move learning online for many students. Now we’re all online and the minister can’t stop talking about how “students learn better in class”. Oooop.. 😮

If we are really concerned about kids mental health, why are we assigning grades right now? Is it worth it in elementary? Feeling frustrated by this process. I would rather write a feedback and encouragement letter and let them know they are more than a mark. Now isn’t the time.

With what educators call "class participation," as with most things, we need to look at motives, not just behavior. Does it reflect genuine engagement (wondering aloud) or is it just an effort to impress the teacher? (Hint: If it's being graded, it's almost certainly the latter.)
