@ryanmorton17 British politics is v polarised ofc. But media doesn’t help that by not asking constructive questions. The pay rise thing is not strictly true. It wasn’t a vote on it directly but instead on the Queen’s speech - the motion was designed to fail based on our political system
@ryanmorton17 The bias point is interesting, you’re considering the mainstream media to be bias towards the right. Social media is bias towards the left (mainly because they’re better at it). I actually think the media on the whole has been awful during this on the left and right.
@ryanmorton17 But I think there is something to be said for we really don’t know what they are yet. There will no doubt be an inquiry into this and that is the time to ask those questions, not look for a “gotcha” moment in an interview now.
@ryanmorton17 As for the media distraction point, if you honestly think that the media in the UK is akin to China and Russia as you suggested before I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
@ryanmorton17 There is though because you’re making it a matter of left vs right. This isn’t that right now. I also don’t see how you can make the coronavirus about inequality, people everywhere are losing a lot of money over this - with notable exceptions granted (Amazon) for example
@JaChallinor But it was wrong nonetheless and regardless of precedent it does not make the current position any less ridiculous or problematic. To negotiate a new deal and then potentially oppose that in a 2nd ref. - just absurd given he’s meant to be a leader of conviction...
This is a lie, quite literally factually incorrect. I know this is the world we live in now but the whole thing is getting embarrassing. #VoteConservative2019
@ryanmorton17 C’mon, think about it. If Boris didn’t have a ‘view’ on any other subject in this election what would that say about him according to you? He didn’t bottle it, he negotiated a deal which technically passed - the option of a no deal was made illegal by the Benn Bill.
@ryanmorton17 Another point, which has gone under reported, is that a lot of Labour’s policies of nationalisation are not compatible with EU membership due to their rules around competition. I get the idealism but policies are economically impossible - see the IFS analysis.
