When I assumed office in 2011, I made a solemn vow to devote every ounce of my being to steer Bengal toward a future of prosperity. My mission was clear: to build a Bengal where every resident could proudly say, "What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow."

Yesterday , as I stood at the Bengal Global Business Summit, surrounded by policymakers, corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, and global visionaries, I saw that dream unfolding before my eyes. 1.72 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, and Bengal has emerged as a powerhouse of growth and opportunity. I am proud to share that this year’s BGBS has yielded 212 MoUs and Letters of Intent, with investment proposals totaling ₹4,40,595 crore.

Yesterday , coal extraction began at Deucha Pachami in Birbhum, unlocking vast reserves that will fuel Bengal’s industrial future. Additionally, oil exploration at Ashoknagar will place Bengal firmly on India’s petroleum map. The dream of “Biswa Bangla”, a Bengal that leads by example, a Bengal that is future-ready, a Bengal that speaks to the world, is a reality, unfolding before our eyes. The vision I set in motion has borne fruit, and Bengal is on the map, as a leader, as an innovator, as a partner for the world.

Since the road accident in 2016, I have faced ongoing challenges with my vision and this was my eighth surgery. I am glad to share that the procedure went well and I am doing fine. While I am on the mend, I have to follow certain post-operative guidelines and precautions to ensure a smooth healing and recovery. This collage stands as a STARK REMINDER of the STATE OF AFFAIRS IN INDIA OVER THE LAST 15 DAYS, as the nation fights for JUSTICE AGAINST RAPE.

The ANSWER is clear: A stringent ANTI RAPE LAW that ensures TRIALS AND CONVICTIONS WITHIN 50 DAYS, followed by immediate and harsh punishment. The SHOCKING TRUTH is that the CONVICTION RATE FOR RAPE cases in 🇮🇳 is a dismal 26 percent. This translates to ONLY 26 CONVICTIONS OUT OF EVERY 100 REPORTED CASES, WHILE 74 OFFENDERS ESCAPE UNPUNISHED. If we are to deliver justice to the victims of this appalling crime, it is imperative that we demand A TIME BOUND ANTI RAPE LAW from our states and union government.

Anything else is futile, merely symbolic and ultimately ineffective!
