It's interesting to see there was female participation from the start in the Paralympics but not in many other aspects of sports. Women should always be allowed to participate in sports, it's sad that the issue of women in sport has fallen less important. @AlexEbner8 #sport200

The first official Paralympic Games was held in Rome in 1960. This was open to female and male athletes. Female participation continues to be low, but the IPC is addressing these issues and year over year, female participation has grown.
