It's surprising how many headlines today don't clearly state that Trump is taking illegal action. Blocking congressionally mandated funding is illegale. Firing IGs is illegal. Assuming the public knows this is journalistic malpractice.
@jeffr0 yeah, that's a long-standing issue and it's been annoying; from this observer, just seems like it depends on whether someone who wants to add it (to the code) has shepherded it long enough through review process & managed to get core contributors attention
join me & register for Data Days CLE, https://t.co/6yBIXUQG0y 10/22 @cleveland_pl: featuring how technology and data is being used in our community , featuring keynote by Yeshimabeit Milner of @Data4BlackLives
@amtillie (this could have been a great Data Days presentation !) reforming processes like these, done carefully* (not replicating inequality, avoiding vendor lockin where possible) are one of the biggest ways to make government operations more efficient.
@amtillie congratulations and major kudos: I'd love to learn more about this. Form digitization in such a large institution is no small work (reviewing/changing processes! examining assumptions! asking 'why is this being done this x way! and not taking 'because' as an answer) 1/?
@osuadamr ha, just challenged myself to make a new set of boundaries where every ward was within 5% of a ward's average population - 24,841 for 2020 (372,624/15)
Holy shit. This dude and his dad own several restaurants across Ohio, including the one most popular with Browns players. He also does fundraisers for Trump and has deep financial ties to every major Ohio Republican and the HB6 bribery case
@KingAdamDrue@NickCastele@davesredist city legislation vaguely requires each ward to be equal in population (https://t.co/W5YFpcPr7A) ; I could see the argument that some neighborhoods have a higher population than others, and a larger nh would only have 1 councilperson as a small nh.
Thorough, fair evaluation by @stefanoschen of
@GovKathyHochul claim that congestion pricing would be bad for "working and middle class New Yorkers": On balance, it's total bunk. https://t.co/Bm7LWgn4xd
y'all-- this has got to be a record. We just opened our Data Days CLE call for proposals this morning. We sent out the notice about 30 mins ago. I just tweeted it out 30 seconds ago.
We already have our first session submission.

I've felt like this (like I was missing something w/ understanding, not a good web developer (good = no one else would want to hire me for meaningful work) for some time now and I was afraid to honestly share it, thought it was just my ADHD & 3/
I've felt intimidated & 'dumb' for not understanding (or as quickly as I wished); the code behind #gutenberg (but that also applies to code & programming concepts in general) 1/?
I give up.
I can no longer contribute to Gutenberg… I can’t understand our code anymore, at this stage it’s alien to me and it keeps getting more and more complex instead of simpler. I’m wasting too much time trying to understand what we do.
I've also felt discouraged from making PRs or contributing more since there's >1k Pull requests (https://t.co/wlmB8jFE6y), some PRs sit there for weeks, months without any acknowledgement (some are relatively simple doc fixes) 2/?
@KapustaDiamond we're heading there for a brief trip in May; we're looking at Fairmount Water Works, mutter museum, museum of art & Wood, (I assume he's talking about monk's?), free library, & ?
