Welekazi?! @African_Spring ? What did you do? What did you do? Not you. Not you. I love you so much. I don't understand what I've just read here. Words feel so inadequate. I'm heartbroken, beloved stranger whom I'd never met. But we met...we met...in words, admiration, laughter, love and solidarity. We met in ways more powerful than the physical. And I loved and admired you. I'm comforted that I atleast told you so, multiple times.
I can't think of anything that makes your death fair. I'm so twisted inside and I wish you were still here to share your insights, wit, sharp tongue and love for South Africa, with us.
You called yourself African Spring - a name filled with youth, hope and the promise of renewal. How unbearably cruel that your own spring should have been so brief. You should have had so many more seasons.
We are poorer without you. Go gently African Spring.
The Madlanga Commission has highlighted the brilliance of a number of young advocates.
Advocate Lee Segeels-Ncube’s questioning of Fadiel Adams is exceptional. 🔥🔥🔥
I’ve been deep-diving SA’s YouTube political podcasts for the past year and, @QaanitahHunter, when you give us your analysis, it still tops just about everything out there.
Huge respect to the other really strong voices in this space, but we need more of you, Q.
I love what you’re doing with the next generation of journalists, but please don’t give your students all of you.
Some of us are still here for the Qaanitah Hunter analysis!
We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.
Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala will face fresh charges of fraud, money laundering and corruption related to his tainted R360m SAPS tender. Senior police officers will join him in the dock.

For Renee Nicole Good
Killed by I.C.E. on January 7, 2026
by Amanda Gorman
They say she is no more,
That there her absence roars,
Blood-blown like a rose.
Iced wheels flinched & froze.
Now, bare riot of candles,
Dark fury of flowers,
Pure howling of hymns.
If for us she arose,
Somewhere, in the pitched deep of our grief,
Crouches our power,
The howl where we begin,
Straining upon the edge of the crooked crater
Of the worst of what we’ve been.
Change is only possible,
& all the greater,
When the labour
& bitter anger of our neighbors
Is moved by the love
& better angels of our nature.
What they call death & void,
We know is breath & voice;
In the end, gorgeously,
Endures our enormity.
You could believe departed to be the dawn
When the blank night has so long stood.
But our bright-fled angels will never be fully gone,
When they forever are so fiercely Good.
You can take this MAGA hatred & fear for Muslim nonsense you are trying to import into SA public discourse & shove it down your little gullet. SA has & always will be supportive & tolerant of all religions. You will NOT succeed in fanning the flames of hate against the Muslim community while hiding behind the plausible deniability & condescending “the rest of you are SO well spoken” BS of “SaLt of ThE eArTH PeOple.”
The @SAHRCommission ought to investigate the blatant Islamophobia you have been spreading.
You have gotten away with too much. Racist insulting black people by insinuating them brainless and convinced with fried chicken & now your target is the Muslim community? Enough is enough.
World Children’s Day… while the children of Palestine are under fire!3
For more than two years of war, 19,000 children have been martyred, and around 28,000 injured, including school students. Hundreds of schools and kindergartens have been completely or partially destroyed.
While the world celebrates children’s rights, the occupation continues its daily violations against them in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
Palestinian children deserve protection, education, and dignity… not death, displacement, and starvation.
From Bernie’s courage to Zohran’s conviction, this is proof that movements don’t fade, they grow. Thank you, Bernie, for paving the way. I can’t wait to see government working for the people of one of my favourite cities in the world.
Dr Adila Hassim SC South Africa’s legal counsel submission to the International Court of Justice
“Palestinians in Gaza are subjected to relentless bombing wherever they go. They are killed in their homes, in places where they seek shelter, in hospitals, in schools, in mosques, in churches, and as they try to find food and water for their families.”
