@VrcCuteKit The shading tab is your friend. Light data and switching shadow profiles help. The right lighting + normals can make models really stand out in worlds. +1 to hais lightbox, super important in my workflow.
@LunchAndVR WayVR has the best I've used by far. I am not sure why everyone else has such horrible options. Though the virtual desktop one is unusable for me.
@MiniPCGuru@vr_hai@LIIIWorks Local LLM was definitely on my radar but I already have some capable options for it. I was mainly looking for something that could drive the steam frame for PCVR while being portable, so more worried about CPU and GPU.
@Laythe_li_suwi@HardwareSteam Color passthrough has its uses for AR/MR. You can do cutouts to be able to mix your workspace & VR applications. Good for productivity.
The Arcturus also brings gaussian splatting tools, so you can quickly bring high-res scans of IRL objects into VR.
@Laythe_li_suwi@HardwareSteam At least the usage of babble and the usage of color passthrough don't really intersect too much! Lower mouth tracking is usually big for social VR, which doesn't need color passthrough too often.
@ILM126@HardwareSteam Eyebrow tracking is done with the existing eye cameras, no need for another expansion for that at least. Would have loved a way to chain the passthrough camera and babble tracker though!
@DoreiGoblin Rooted mine tonight, it was as about as plug n play as it gets. Load the apk, run it, follow steps in the app, hit โroot headsetโ.
Phenomenal work from the devs
@RavennesAion@UraniumMuncher7@HardwareSteam Speculating there. The hardware Iโve tested for VRC on streaming shows rather surprising results. If a 1060 on a 13 year old mobo and ddr3 memory can pull 25 fps while streaming, the frame can manage.
@RavennesAion@UraniumMuncher7@HardwareSteam You definitely would not want to run the PC version in publics or unoptimized worlds. Itโll run fine in small 5-8 person privates and movie nights. Poi isnโt a crazy unoptimized shader, it can actually be very efficient. Regardless the frame has the vram for it.
@UraniumMuncher7@HardwareSteam Yeah its a bummer. I didnโt expect the frame to run PC perfectly but EAC (to my knowledge) does not support ARM linux, and fails over proton (ARM windows > ARM linux).
They would need to disable EAC on PC or make a special frame build.
@UraniumMuncher7@HardwareSteam For standalone yes. It will be the exact same build as what the Quest has.
Streaming will be PCVR, just like if you were streaming from a Quest.
@Minibattle_Lop I've had friends who are particularly sensitive to compression artifacts before and wireless streaming was just a locked path for them. Might be that!
It also could be a myriad of other things if its truly egregious. Power delivery issues from mobo, faulty drivers, interference.
@Godzephose@HardwareSteam Would very much like to be proven wrong here. I would love the ability to enjoy VRC on the go. The Quest build is unbearable for me, even if literally my entire friends list wasn't PC-only & don't have quest avatars.
@Godzephose@HardwareSteam I haven't gotten the device yet myself, was operating off of others reports. "Putting up a wall" is a bit harsh here. There is a lot moving parts there. As far as my knowledge goes, EAC does not support ARM on linux at all. Someone mentioned it does on Windows, so be a chance.
@HardwareSteam This is why I expect VRC is not actively supporting the PC version. It would be a poor experience to the casual user. The thing I am angry about is the complete wall they put up from *even trying*. There was a great opportunity here and it feels arbitrarily shut off.
@HardwareSteam I wanna add here that I do not think the frame could run PCVR VRC in casual use. Public lobbies and shader heavy worlds it will struggle I'd bet (might be surprised). I am specifically talking about small private instances in optimized worlds.
