@buggy_ridge We are in Detroit. There’s fruit on ours but not ripe yet. We did start a bunch of micro drawf varieties way early and have been harvesting cherry and plum sized fruit for a few weeks now
@AtavisticCroft He goes through them and uses the young, still tender roots. If you catch them before they flower you can use them this time of year. They have the sweeter taste like the later ones.
@Aflgirl13845 I’ve had dahlias come back after a mild winter in Michigan. If you leave them just make sure the area isn’t wet in the winter or the tubers will rot.
@ExtropiAna I knew someone that coughed while eating watermelon and didn’t know a seed went into their nasal cavity. 2 weeks later went to the doctor with lots of sinus issues and the seed had germinated!
The last of our strawberry harvest. Decided to make strawberry shortcakes for the neighborhood kids that visit our garden daily- 22 total made. Used Nigella Lawson’s recipe which has been my favorite for years and is closer to a scone. Rave reviews from the kiddos!
Almost time to say goodbye to pansies for the summer. I started these from seed early January and planted them out in March. Hoping to get a nice harvest in the cooler weather next week and finally get to drying them.
Finally made the time to make sugar cookies with pansies! I think they came out pretty good for a first try. Need a better cookie recipe, maybe lemon shortbread next time.
@goldwhitegreen I put them on before baking. Egg wash top and bottom then sprinkled with sugar. After is an option but haven’t tried it, though that might help the flowers keep their vibrancy? Kind of like this washed out look though.
@ghostwhow4lks I’m testing out some compact varieties this year and thinking of growing them year round with our seedlings indoors. Seriously one of my favorite plants!
@ThatzStacey@shipwreckshow The micro plants under a foot do but the dwarf ones can produce surprisingly large fruit for their size. Look into the Dwarf Tomato Project. The one in the photo is Orange Hat from Baker Creek Seeds.
