Last night, I joined @Afscme1004/@SLCPLWU workers for an emergency town hall regarding @SLCPL's reorganization and pressured resignations. Last week, I stood with @ATUComm to fight for a new contract. These public workers are being targeted and I'm more convinced than ever it's a response to our victory on overturning HB 267.
One step closer to union recognition! After hearing the library workers' stories, the Salt Lake City Public Library Board unanimously voted to pass their version of a resolution. Publicly committing to working with the Union to finalize the union recognition process!
To clarify: the SLCPL board has drafted a resolution to continue this process with us, but we still need to count our cards and negotiate. The organizing process never stops, but this is a huge step toward our goal of a collectively bargained contract!
@MaximumMiri Since they're a separate system from us, we have no way to know what they might be up to. But we love the county and we'd love to see more unions!
We are meeting with the SLC Library board on Monday, August 28th, at 4:00 p.m. at the main library. We'll be meeting before outside in library square (south entrance) Let's pack that board room with support for these library workers! ITS TIME TO RECOGNIZE OUR UNION!
If you're unable to join us in person at the rally and meeting today, tune in virtually at 4pm.

We are hoping that the SLCPL board will choose to recognize us at their meeting next week, and we need all the support we can get! Join us if you can - we'll also provide a link to attend the virtual meeting.

We have been quiet on Twitter, but our journey hasn't stopped! The library board meets once a month and will make their decision soon. Join us at their meeting next month on July 18th!
