President of Honduras Nasry Asfura began his first visit to Ukraine by honoring the memory of fallen Ukrainian warriors. This is a significant gesture of respect for our people who gave their lives for Ukraine, for freedom and peace. We value this support, solidarity with our people, and understanding of what Ukraine is enduring today.
Eternal memory and gratitude to all our defenders who fell defending Ukraine against Russian aggression.
Regarding Belarus.
When the full-scale war began, we were hit by missiles that killed children and adults. And Alexander Lukashenko knows this. A large number of missiles were launched from Belarus. Back then, he called, apologized, and said it was out of his control. I don’t believe that, but that’s what he’s already said. Now, Russia will keep pushing him further into this war. Now, he understands that Ukraine will respond.
There’s no need for extra words. There are retransmitters on his communication towers. On his territory, along the two regions bordering Ukraine, there is equipment that adjusts fire on our people. He should remove that equipment. I think a week is enough for him to do that. Because right now, every day, our civilians are being killed, and children are being wounded as a result of this. If he doesn’t do it, we will.
The same goes for his oil-refining sector, for example. We are doing everything so that the Russians don’t have the ability to sell oil and supply diesel and fuel to their army. Today, Belarus is one of the key suppliers for the Russian army. Can this be stopped? I’m sure it’s within his power. And he is the one who controls it.
As for the drone strike on a bus with Belarusian children, everyone has already acknowledged it – international experts and, it seems, even the Russians are admitting it wasn’t our strike. The Russians will resort to all sorts of provocations to drag the Belarusian people into this war. This is one of them.
From the joint press interaction with the President of Honduras, Nasry Asfura. (1/3)
Zelensky tells the Belarusian dictator that he has one week to remove the missile guidance systems that he allows Russia to use for targeting Ukrainian cities or "we will remove them ourselves".
Zelensky issued Belarus dictator Lukashenko an ultimatum: Remove the communications repeater antennas near the border within 7 days or Ukraine will destroy them.
These Russian electronics in Belarus are used to guide Russian attacks on Ukraine.
Unlike Russia, Ukraine targets not the 1000-year-old cradles of Eastern Christianity, but the foundations of the economic means by which Moscow finances war.
We are not the same.
We want an end to this war and peace – a just and lasting peace.
This time, the Moscow region felt the reach of Ukraine’s long-range capabilities. An oil refinery was hit at a distance of 500 kilometers. I thank the warriors of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, and the Missile Forces for their effective work.
Russia must be forced to end its war against our people. And Ukraine’s long-range weapons are one of the important components of such pressure.
This is a just response to Russian strikes – and to the dragging out of a war that must be ended.
Glory to Ukraine!
Russia launched a "Geran-2" drone strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
The "Geran-2" is a Russian version of the Iranian Shahed drone. The SSU has established that some of its components were manufactured in the "Alabuga" special economic zone.
As a result of the attack, the cathedral's roofing, domes, walls, and glass windows were damaged.
The strike has been classified as a war crime.
Russia will be held accountable for all its strikes.
The massive bombings and attacks overnight targeting civilians and the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO site, are yet another reminder that Russia is continuing its escalation.
These attacks demonstrate Russia’s unwillingness to engage seriously in peace negotiations.
But time is not on Russia’s side.
When G7 Leaders meet in Evian today, we will discuss how to increase pressure on Russia to come to the negotiating table for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
russia kills. Deliberately and intentionally.
Strikes against people, cities, places of worship, and culture are neither accidents nor mistakes. They are part of a strategy. In the Kremlin’s distorted logic, fear is meant to break people’s will, while the destruction of memory is meant to make us forget who we are.
When a russian shahed drone strikes the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - it is not merely an act of terror. It is a war against faith and historical memory.
When the Dovzhenko Film Studio is burning, along with masterpieces from the Golden Collection of Ukrainian cinema, it is the destruction of something that can never truly be restored.
This is how their predecessors acted in the last century: destroying churches, burning archives, and erasing names. They tried to destroy the very idea of Ukraine.
They failed then. They will fail now.
russia is a terrorist state. An aggressor. A killer. The time will come when it is held accountable for every strike, every destroyed city, and every life taken.
Eternal memory to those who were killed. My deepest condolences to their loved ones.
Many thanks to our air defence forces for every life saved.
Glory to the Defence Forces of Ukraine!
Glory to Ukraine! 🇺🇦
Deadly strikes on Ukraine leave Kyiv cathedral in flames
Russia fired a barrage of missiles at several major Ukrainian cities, setting Kyiv's historic Dormition Cathedral on fire and killing nine, while Ukraine strikes claimed three lives south of Moscow
https://t.co/7uLLX7qjDu
Russia launched more than 60 missiles at the Ukrainian capital alone. In total, 70 missiles and 611 drones were used against Ukraine. Their targets were innocent people sleeping in the middle of the night and a 1,000-year-old Cathedral.
As Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled El-Enany has not issued an official, standalone quote or statement directly condemning Russia. Will he do it now? Ever? Drop him a line @UNESCO_DG
Emergency services continue dealing with the aftermath of the enemy’s massive attack on the capital.
Last night in Kyiv, 5 people were killed and 35 injured, including two children and a pregnant woman. The enemy targeted residential areas, infrastructure, businesses, and Kyiv’s sacred landmarks.
A fire on the roof of the Assumption Cathedral at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra—a UNESCO World Heritage site—has been contained. Opposite the Lavra, the Mystetskyi Arsenal National Art and Culture Museum Complex caught fire and was damaged. The Dovzhenko Film Studios were also hit.
The enemy wants to erase our history and everything Ukrainian, but they cannot break us. Kyiv has stood for centuries and it will stand through this.
Russia increased attacks on Ukrainian civilians again last night and carried out strikes that damaged a UNESCO World Heritage site in Kyiv.
These are war crimes, and Russia will have to answer for them.
In response, today we are adopting additional sanctions targeting Russia's military-industrial complex and its shadow fleet.
Every measure further restricts Russia's room for manoeuvre.
My press remarks ahead of today’s Foreign Affairs Council ↓
When Notre-Dame burned in 2019, the world stopped.
Today, Russia damages Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a monastery nearly 1,000 years old and older than Notre-Dame itself.
A thousand years of history deserves the same attention, the same sympathy, and the same protection.
Again and again, Russia kills the people and destroys the cultural sites it says it went to war to protect. These crimes will end when the US supplies missile defense to Ukraine and enforces sanctions on Russian energy.
