@BizNasty2point0 insider rumor mill from within the organization is Yzerman had a deal in place to acquire Robo and extending him at 14 a year. Illitch said no like he’s done for years, Stammer being another example. Yzerman had enough of Illitch denying everything and bailed.

Could explain the timing of this situation better. Yzerman fed up with Illitch and his inability to allow money being spent while Yzerman takes the heat. Not saying Yzerman didn’t make questionable calls as well, but maybe this explains deadline deals and lack of trades?

@crufio812 @RedWingDiehards Exactly. Having a modern day Shanahan is rare as hell now a days. So you make do with guys like Kolesar who is essentially like Maltby, who I seem to remember everyone loving… only way we’re getting a guy who scores 70+ and hits is by offering up a lot or drafting him
