@Invinium hard to pick my 4
artorias/manus, speed
fume knight, combos, mixups, input read, positioning checks
kalameet, foundation of future dragons
ludwig, using the limb break as a posture bar, which became key in sekiro/elden ring
o&s, storm king, friede also have claims
@Omoi010 all im hoping for is that their next pve game takes foundations laid by bosses like morgott and messmer
those fast paced fights where the bosses have multiple mixups depending on player position are what i live for
he makes a good case for the bosses he chose, still cant help but feel as though fume knight was snubbed
he is a better candidate for the "father of combos" as a lot of the points give to sulyvahn apply to fume, who came first
heal punish
positioning checks
long combos
mixups
@Omoi010 malenia hasnt had a chance to influence an entire generation of bosses yet, she has a place amongst the greatests of all time but no elden ring boss is mount rushmore material YET*
@Jet_Amrmans2 hard to rly pick 4 so i can defo feel ur struggle in choosing only 4 to make ur video
just think hes the better pick as he came first, and every "guy with sword" fight feels like an evolution of artorias' speed and fume's mixups, combo branching, position checks & the heal read
@HylianUndead its not really about difficulty
point im making is that while sulyvahn refined the formula, fume knight did it all first
he is the template upon which essentially every guy with sword boss has been built upon
having a successor on there rather than the original is just wrong
@SiofraSabhait i feel u, i think then that the boss i would pick from bloodborne would be ludwig as he feels like the true predecessor to the posture system
my main point of contention w/ the limb break system is that it was very much a basegame thing that imo made the bosses too easy
@HawkboneFGC think not including fume knight on here (the very obvious template for ds3 knight boss design) is disingenuous
otherwise this is valid, i think midir or friede are the only ds3 picks i can really embrace
regardless its difficult to only choose four so no list will be perfect
@SiofraSabhait its not directly from bloodborne either, sinh predates bloodborne n takes increased dmg to the head
limb breaking is certainly part of the influence for posture but even as far back as ds1 a boss like smough can be staggered so this concept has also been present for a long time
@SiofraSabhait cuz the limb break mechanic which you can use to stunlock every basegame bloodborne boss isnt present in the games after it
midir influenced every elden ring dragon
friede belongs up there rather than maria imo, aside from her low poise i dont feel much maria post bloodborne
@Invinium@SiofraSabhait this is also part of why i think midir does have a genuine place up there
midir really pioneered the "hit the dragon in the head" philosophy, improving on sinh and becoming the basis of elden ring's dragons
@SiofraSabhait a fair take, i think my thought process on this only leaves elden ring out as its the newest game
think the "mount rushmore" should be who has most impacted the design of bosses after them
at the end of the day its all objective, every1s entitled to their opinion im just yappin
@SiofraSabhait who would you have up there instead of midir, out of curiosity
only because i feel like a dragon does belong up there due to their prevalance in souls
@Invinium ya, my main point is that just because sulyvahn did things faster/more complex doesn't mean he isnt obviously inspired by fume knight, who to me does feel like the blueprint of ds3s boss design specifically
