As Ukraine builds strategic momentum, the Kremlin’s insecurity is sharpening. This is exactly when pressure bites hardest, and when Russia’s isolation must deepen, not ease.
Any pause now would give Moscow what it craves: space to regroup and recalibrate. Ukraine’s partners cannot fall into that trap.

“When it comes to Europe and the United States, when it comes to Estonia and the United States, there is so much more that ties us together than separates us.”

Russia is constantly planning hostile activities against the West. That is nothing new.
But there is currently no evidence of a concrete plan or timeline for an imminent provocation.
An excellent deep dive by @holger_r.
Great to be back on @TimesRadio with @JPonpolitics discussing the NATO Summit in Ankara. My main message: NATO allies should front-load their defence spending. We cannot assume Russia will politely wait until NATO is ready.
🇪🇪Embassy of Estonia lowered flags in solidarity with people of Kyiv on the Day of Mourning. 🕯️ As a result of yesterday's massive Russian shelling, 30 people have already been confirmed dead, 92 injured.
The Embassy expresses its heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families.
I joined BBC World Service’s Newshour yesterday to discuss Russia’s continued terror bombing of Kyiv, what it reveals about Kremlin’s desperation, and why the West must stay the course in supporting Ukraine.

In a recent interview with @LEXPRESS, our SecGen @Vseviov argued that Putin has lost control of the narrative. Kremlin faces growing strategic pressure as they are unable to deliver military success or define a credible path to victory.
Europe's response should remain clear: sustained support for Ukraine, continued pressure on Russia, and stronger collective defence.

There is only one way to end Russia's war of aggression.
Strengthen Ukraine's ability to defend itself and continue increasing the pressure on the Kremlin.
Plenty of closed-door briefings during our visit with @martin_briens to Tapa.
But also a chance to see the capabilities of the 🇫🇷 forces serving in 🇪🇪 firsthand.
This is what credible deterrence looks like.
When your idea of a perfect summer includes fresh air, mild temperatures, pristine nature and unforgettable white nights, Estonia might just be the perfect destination for your next getaway. 🇪🇪
Russia is now equipping civilian ships with machine guns.

Congratulations to @MarianneMikko on her re-election to a second term as a member of @CEDAW_UN.👏
Preventing violence against women and promoting gender equality are central pillars of Estonia’s human rights diplomacy.
Waging a war of aggression, failing at it, then trying to achieve the same objectives at the negotiating table over the heads of those with the greatest stake in the outcome — and failing again — is not particularly elegant.
Keep calm and carry on.
Stories like this reflect Moscow’s growing nervousness as it begins to realize that its aggression has no viable path to success. No provocation will change that. If anything, it would only reinforce Allied unity and resolve. https://t.co/xPxJ5Ou1L4
Students all over Estonia are wrapping up another school year, and the results speak for themselves.
According to the OECD PISA assessment, Estonia ranks at the very top in Europe and among the world's best in science, reading, and mathematics.
A testament to great teachers, strong schools, and a steadfast commitment to educational excellence.
We wish all students, teachers, and families a sunny, joyful, and well-deserved summer break!
Yesterday evening, at the foot of the Acropolis, the music of Arvo Pärt resonated through the Athens night, as the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste, performed before an audience of 5,000.
As Kaljuste reflected afterwards:
"As the final notes faded into the Mediterranean night and the audience slowly departed, it felt for a moment as though an almost imperceptible layer of Estonian culture had been left on those ancient stones."

Tonight I had the honour of presenting Ambassador, and a long‑time friend of Estonia, @rceallen with the Foreign Ministry’s Special Class Cross of Merit for his invaluable contribution to strengthening relations between Estonia and the United Kingdom.
Thank you for your steady dedication, commitment, and professionalism over the past five years. You have left a lasting impact on our bilateral ties.
As you move on to your next chapter, I wish you every success and fulfilment ahead.
Estonia will always be glad to welcome you back.
It was an honour to welcome my good friend, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, @andrii_sybiha, to Tallinn.
We discussed Ukraine’s security, the need to maintain firm pressure on Russia, Ukraine’s EU accession and reconstruction process.
Estonia will continue to stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes. As Putin intensifies his attacks and shows no sign of abandoning his imperial ambitions, our responsibility is to increase pressure, not offer concessions.
A just and lasting peace cannot be achieved while the aggressor continues its assault, violates Ukraine’s sovereignty, and has not been held accountable for its repeated violations of international law.
Ukraine’s place is in the European Union. It is a strategic investment in Europe’s security and resilience, and we must act with urgency to open the necessary clusters.
