@InteSosseSe Hej Intesosse.
@anvorobiova@ElafAli__ Well I’m glad you clarified that you don’t support such actions. And I allready said I sympathize on a human level (even if I know it was a joke, I can agree that it was hurtful). Legally, you are just wrong. Good night.
@anvorobiova@ElafAli__ 1) Ok, I’ll settle for a ‘statement made to make people laugh on a comedy show’ 2) You have the right to your opinion, but to spread such statements about an individual is a crime 3) You are personally not a fan? Wow, you really do know how to swing a double standard.
@anvorobiova@ElafAli__ Yeah, we have that proverb too. Problem is it was a joke, and the angry responses range from “you are racist” (fine, that’s an opinion) to “I will rape your filthy arab face with knives” (that’s a death threat). But nice to hear that you stand behind that kind of hurricane.
@anvorobiova@ElafAli__ But there needs to be proportionality also in the response. When an individual is subjected to a massive coordinated attack (with different agendas, like yours - but also purely racist threats of rape and murder) it might be a little harsh to expect a swift balanced response.
@anvorobiova@ElafAli__ Thats another question where i have more understanding of your perspective. The legal side of it is, sorry to say, bullshit in my view. And the ambassador should stay out of reviewing jokes. But on a human level, i sympathize with the hurt and the outcry.
@anvorobiova@ElafAli__ You miss my point. There is absolutely no way that you could prove intent. The statement was made to be funny (some people thought it was), it can be interpreted in several ways, it was said in a comedy context etc.
@anvorobiova@ElafAli__ And thats where youll lose in every court in the west. In the sacred words from the Big Lebowski: ”thats just like… your opinion man”.
Subjective.
@anvorobiova@ElafAli__ Neither does Swedish law, but there are legal qualifications like… intent! Just like US law, where comedy/satire is generally excempt for obvious reasons. Otherwise very much irony/sarcasm/gallows humour etc would be illegal. Never heard an american standup make an ethnic joke?
@anvorobiova@ElafAli__ Not in Sweden. Defamation (”förtal”) requires a person (or small individually identifiable group) being slandered. ”Hets mot folkgrupp” is a form of group libel, but it is not applicable here due to context etc (the fact that the comment was made in a comedy show is enough)
