@JeremyVineOn5@Lowri_Turner@narindertweets@theJeremyVine Thank you, Lowri, for your intelligent contribution on the show this morning. Narinder has some internalised misogyny to work through and the "pick me" vibes are really jarring.
@occpsych@GMB In that case we are all brainwashed when we learn to speak ? To critically think about the words we use should be empowering, especially when it benefits so many people. It certainly doesn't harm anyone. Not the way gender inequality does.
@GatehouseSonja @GMB She wasn't offended though. She's teaching to critically think about the language you use. Language is quite powerful and can condition the way you think.
@GMB I agree with the teacher on this one. Changing the way children speak in their formative years may open conversations early on and change the way they think as they grow.
What strikes me as deeply unpleasant about the Nicola Sturgeon / Alex Salmond situation is that the possible consequence of a powerful man who Sturgeon says acted "deeply inappropriately" towards women could be the destruction of a woman's political career.
Despite all the fake news and daily SNP bad propaganda, I stand with @NicolaSturgeon. Do you? If so, please RT, or tweet #IStandWithNicola so we can get it trending. She stands for Scotland, and we stand with her. 🏴
Having failed to lay a glove on Nicola Sturgeon, opposition politicians and the anti-SNP commentariat have launched a full-on Trumpist assault, deploying character assassination, wild exaggerations, accusations and conspiracy theories. #IstandwithNicola https://t.co/TaslqQCpeS
Opposition parties are more interested in taking down Nicola Sturgeon than standing up for women facing sexual harassment. #IstandwithNicola https://t.co/TaslqQCpeS
@thismorning Why is it fair that I know, confidently, when I go out I won't get stopped? However, if I felt that every time I went out I had to look over my shoulder, that would become an issue and I would want to highlight it.
@thismorning I don't expect to get stopped for driving to a different area. It's not about stopping the 'stop and search' system completely. It's about using a system that doesn't disproportionately target black people.
