@markgrossi I would go to BFL for business quite a bit about 8 or so years ago. Guthrie’s, Trouts and The Long Branch were our go tos for “authentic Bakersfield….granted I think two of those are (were?) in Oildale.

@phaneritic @inaturalist Side note. I have a series of photos he took of a man who landed at Kennedy Meadows in a Piper Cub. Low/Out of fuel. Thinking something might happen my grandpa stuck around. The photos show the takeoff roll and then…the crash.

@phaneritic @inaturalist The Brookies that live in that outlet…love to watch them. I’ve been going there since a child. My grandpa took me there every year. He went there as a young adult. He used to take horses back with life rafts (wwii navy surplus). I have pictures of that place back into the 40s.
