This is a first. Someone taped a check to their kids order form. The full length of the check, six inches of tape along the bottom and the full 3 inch width! As if my order sheet is a scrapbook! Obviously I can’t share a photo of it, but funny.
Spent virtually all day on and off working on the football schedule. Managed to get 15 teams on it twice. Meaning I can offer collage packages to 15 teams. I will personally shoot each team at least once with Sean covering games I can’t get to.
Been busy even though it’s summer. All the PYLGSA team stuff is done and delivered. Quick hit this week with a team deal for the 12U MVP Hustle Baseball. Did a set of trading cards on top of the deal. Love these!
Just got a big delivery and the driver was curious what was inside because he’s a car guy and figured Sloppy’s Garage had something to do with cars. (And the SIX boxes were heavy.) I told him I shoot sports, I opened a small box and he was blown away. Genuinely surprised. Cool.
2 teams to go. Just sent in the print order for PYL 10 Red. For one of the girls on 12 White this is her 5th year. Had to design the trading cards so it differs from the previous 4. Realized one girl’s cards from 24 & 25 were the same pose! She’s getting an alternate for 2025.
Posting like a madman, also editing the 5 all star softball team packages. 12 collages left to do. July is going to be my most productive. Has to be, simply too much lingering.
Finished a few fall high school collages. Focused on thinning all the softball from the last three weekends. It’s the most time consuming part of the process. Finished 12 White. Dig the colors on this collage though!
Drove to Westlake Village for more PYL Softball All Star coverage yesterday. Got in great time w/ all 4 teams in fresh venues. Sprayed my neck, head, & shoulders but forgot the face sunscreen. Toasted but not burnt. Just another shade darker than the rest of me. Edits today.
It seems like all year long I wish for a week of nothing to shoot, just so I can make a dent in the To Do Pile. Well now is the time. Aside from some weekend softball and a few possible studio shoots, I am clear for a couple months of editing and posting! Have a great summer!
Last night was the start of the Summer All Star Season for me. I shot 10U softball. Today another few teams. The majority of the kids are here every year. The next few weekends will be busy, but I do like seeing the kids again. A year goes by so fast!
Just starting to get back to normal. On April 24, I went with my son to watch the Aquabats and I got wrecked in the moss pit. Somebody torqued me pretty hard and by the middle of last week I could not turn my head. Fortunately it’s mostly editing right now, but feeling better.
55 kids getting trading cards for Tustin Western Little League. Not a small project, but worth it! Different designs for all 5 teams. Turned out great!
Let me help you visualize this. If I’m shooting a volleyball team or a baseball team. Those sports have three levels. Now take that and multiply it times 6 or 7 schools and you’ve got about 20 different schedules. I have to figure out how to get to all those games. Not easy.
On the bright side I did deliver a bunch today. It could all be faster if I didn’t offer action items. A mom was perplexed that photos hadn’t been delivered yet, even though she ordered action stuff! AND the game I went to her son didn’t play. It ain’t easy I tell you.
Back from a short vacation. Disaster today as my older & main machine’s Photoshop locked up. Can’t use it. Switching has been brutal. Slow going. All my shortcuts are gone. Unfamiliar feeling. Going to be a tough week. Emails need attention.
Time for a walk. If you work on a Mac and have lots of stuff in your desktop, the worst thing you can do is hit command+ when you’re on a desktop icon. All the icons enlarge & scatter to rearrange themselves. I do it every few months, by accident. Absolutely horrible.
The game I was going to shoot today was canceled due to heat. I was going to shoot both sides of it. So now instead of one game, I have to find dates to shoot both of those teams, one visit turns into two! Rough day all around. I did edits & turned in an order for 14 T-shirts.
Shot EDHS v EHS girls lacrosse today. Two of my targets were out of action. Frustrating only because scheduling everyone is one of the hardest parts of the job. There’s still plenty of season left, but there will be shuffling!
I have 2 large cards of action to put on my external hard drive, but it is maxed out again. I hate deleting old files. Usually it’s stuff that’s been polished & uploaded online, but there’s also lots of unused stuff that’s has got to go. This summer I’ll thin it much more.
