Comparing with them, the municipal corporations in #TamilNadu in general, are very poorly funded despite the size (both geography & economy). Municipal bodies in TN have very little power. Also people in TN are comparatively taxed lesser. Here's the annual budget of municipal corporations in Tamil Nadu (In crores ₹):

While analysing the Indian urban bodies, also found an interesting thing. Municipal bodies in Maharashtra are unmatched in India in every sense. There are 15 municipal bodies in MH with above 1000 crore annual budget.
Even more interesting thing is, there are 9 municipal corporations & a larger regional metropolitan development authority (along the lines of CMDA) in Mumbai metropolitan region alone! Here's the annual budget of urban bodies in Mumbai (In crores ₹):

Together, the urban bodies in Mumbai alone spend roughly a lakh crore rupees annually. The sheer economic might of #Mumbai is unmatched in every sense.

TN need to empower its urban bodies & make them self sufficient in order to provide better civic amenties to our citizens.
