For the past two days, hundreds of healthcare leaders have gathered on Oracle's Innovations campus in Kansas City to collaborate, network, and share ideas on our collective vision for the future of healthcare.
Modernizing digital infrastructure is critical to improving how data can inform healthcare decision making.

Can we make our experiences with the healthcare system as simple and convenient as shopping online for a sweater? Yes, says Stephanie Trunzo, SVP and GM of Oracle Health. Tune in as @sltrunzo and @megescobosa tackle #healthdata, #UX, and #women in health: https://t.co/gOQvbZ5Q9E
.@sltrunzo is right: many are measuring success in the wrong way. If healthcare were built to promote proactive, person-centered care, people would rarely need to visit a hospital, let alone spend time in a hospital bed.
We need to think about intended outcomes instead of measuring success by thinking about the way things used to be.
Something I am thinking about: in healthcare technology, a primary metric of "success" that analysts look at for market share are based on the number of hospital beds served.
As we look toward more virtual, at-home, proactive wellness models, will the lens on that metric shift to number of beds reduced/avoided? The efficiency of those beds? Will we also see metrics that consider the ways we are serving humans across other channels?
“We’re at a tipping point in healthcare and moving from the past into the present and future, with data driving transformation.”
